Project of the month: Beading Wire Earrings

Materials for Style I:

  • 2 x 3.5" color beading wire

  • Beads of your choices

  • 2 of 2x2 crimp beads

  • 1 pair of ear wires

Materials for Style II:

  • 15" color beading wire

  • 8 x 4mm Swarovski Crystals

  • 8 of 1x1 crimp beads

  • 4 of 2x2 crimp beads

  • 1 pair of ear wires

Tools: Chain nose pliers & wire cutter

Estimated cost: $10 or less

Estimated time: 15 minutes for each pair

       
 

Style I - Step 1.

String beads on to beading wire according to your design

 

Style I - Step 2.

String a 2x2 crimp beads into both ends of the beading wire, leaving one end about 3/4" longer than the other.

 

Style I - Step 3.

Loop the longer end of the beading wire back through the crimp bead to form a loop.

 

 

Style I - Step 4.

Use the chain nose pliers to crimp the crimp bead. Trim the ends of with the wire cutter.

 

       
 

Style I - Step 5.

Open the loop on the ear wire, slide the beading wire loop and close the ear wire loop to finish the earring. Repeat from Step 1 to make the other earring.

 

Style II - Step 1.

For each earring, Cut 4 pieces of beading wire in the following length:

  1. 2.5"

  2. 2"

  3. 1.5"

  4. 1.25"

 

Style II - Step 2.

Crimp one 1x1 crimp bead on each end of the beading wire pieces.

 

 

Style II - Step 3.

String one 4mm crystal on to each beading wire piece.

 

       
 

Style II - Step 4:

String one 2x2 crimp bead through all four beading wire pieces, adjusting the length of the beading wires so they hang down in different length. Leave one beading wire at least 3/4" above the crimp bead.

 

Style II - Step 5:

Crimp the crimp bead and trim off the 3 shorter beading wire above the flattened crimp bead.

  Style II - Step 6:

String another 2x2 crimp bead right on top of the flattened one. Loop the remaining beading wire end back through the 2nd crimp bead to make a loop. Crimp the 2nd crimp bead in the same direction to line up with the first one. Trim the tail.

 

Style II - Step 7:

Open the loop on the ear wire, slide the beading wire loop and close the ear wire loop to finish the earring. Repeat from Step 1 to make the other earring.
