Project of the month: pearls for mom

printable version

Materials for a 7.5" bracelet:

  • 72 - 81 x (6 - 7 mm) fresh water pearls in 2 - 3 colors

  • 9 x roundels (5 mm) with Swarovski crystals (silver or gold)

  • 3 x 3 - hole separator bar (silver or gold)

  • 9 x 3 mm round beads (sterling silver or gold-filled)

  • 3 x 1 ft Power Pro® elastic cord (0.5 mm)

Tools: scissors

Estimated cost: $45 - $60

Estimated time: 1 hour

Step 1.

For each strand, string 8 - 9 pearls, 1 round bead, 1 roundel. Repeat with 2 other strands, then, string separator bars on either side of the 3 strands. This completes one section of the bracelet

Step 2.

Continue with the other two sections, careful to end elastic at the roundels. Tie couple of square knots, pull elastic cord to tighten the knots, and dap clear glue to set the knots. Cut off the tails after glue dries.

Tip for elastic making jewelry:

Always use high quality elastic cord for better durability. If possible, tie the knots at the beads with larger holes so the knots can be hidden nicely.
