Project of the month: Double Delight Necklace

printable version

Materials:

  • 1 x metal cuff with rings
  • 18 - 25 assortment of beads (mix of 4mm - 8mm beads works best)
  • 18 - 25 copper 3/4" - 1"  head pins or a spool of wire. Since we are making simple loops, it's a good idea to choose a slight heavier gauge - we use 22g on our glass beads cuff and 24g on our semiprecious beads cuff.

Tools:

Chain nose pliers, round nose pliers, and wire cutter

Estimated cost: $30 for our glass beads sample and $45 for our semiprecious beads sample

Estimated time: 1 - 1.5 hours

Step 1.

Start with a cuff component made with multiple rings. Ours is a hammered copper cuff with 3 rings on top.

Step 2.

Use head pins or cut wires to string the beads and make bead dangles. If you are using cut wires, make a "p" at one end of the cut wire to create the "head". Make a simple loop on each bead dangle: making simple loop. Make 18 - 25 bead dangles ready to be used.

Step 3.

Start to attach bead dangles to the rings on the cuff by opening the simple loop on each bead dangle, link to the ring on the cuff and close the loop to secure.

Step 4.

Attach the bead to all 3 rings. It's easier to work evenly on all 3 rings instead of attaching all beads to 1 ring at a time.

Step 5.

Keep adding bead dangles as you need to "fill" the space on each ring until the cuff looks "full" and the size of the beads look balance on all 3 rings.

Note:

It's your choice to dangle a few or more beads on the cuff. The cuff would look different with different selection of beads as well.
