Project of the month: Rings and Chain

printable version

Materials:

  • 4 x 3-hole decorative spacer bars

  • 2 x 3-hole decorative links (for connecting to the clasp)

  • 48 - 60 x 5-6mm beads

  • 3 x 1 ft beading wire

  • 2 - 4 x 6mm jump rings

  • 6 x crimp beads (2x2)

  • 1 x clasp

Tools: chain nose or crimping pliers, and wire cutter

Estimated cost: $35 (our sample with pearls)

Estimated time: 45 minutes

The number of the beads you need will depend on the size of the beads and how curvy you want the bracelet to be.

Step 1.

String 4 beads to the 1st strand, 3 to the 2nd strand and 2 to the 3rd strand (pattern 4-3-2) . String the 3 wires through 1 spacer bar. Then, string the strands in a reversed pattern (2-3-4). String a second spacer bar.

You may also want to use 5-4-3/3-4-5 pattern instead for a more curvy look.

Step 2.

Repeat the bead pattern as needed, finish with the decorative links.

In our bracelet sample with 5-4-3/3-4-5 pattern, we have 5 sections of beads. In our bracelet sample with 4-3-2/2-3-4 pattern, we have 6 sections of beads.

Step 3.

Use jump rings to connect the links to the clasp. You may want to use 2 jump rings together to double the strength.
